If you’re flying to Melbourne in October 2026, or are heading to the airport to pick up relatives, there’s an important change to keep in mind to avoid staying in the same position. From October 6, 2026, the pick-up and drop-off areas at Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 of Melbourne Airport will officially be adjusted to a new area called T123 Transport Hub. This is a change that passengers and carriers should be aware of in advance, especially if you’ve been to Melbourne Airport before and are still used to using the old pick-up and drop-off area.

So, if you take your loved ones to the airport, remember to Drop-off at Level 3. On the contrary, if you arrive at the airport flying to pick up relatives, please move to Pick-up at Level 2.

Is the new pick-up and drop-off area free?

Conveniently, the new pick-up and drop-off area at T123 Transport Hub is free of charge. This area is arranged with about 115 pick-up positions and 74 drop-off positions, making traveling at Terminals 1, 2 and 3 more convenient.

If you go to the airport to pick up relatives but they have not yet arrived at the Pick-up area, you can also wait for free for up to 60 minutes at Mercer Drive. However, it is still important to agree in advance with the person being picked up the time and location to meet. The airport is quite large, especially during busy hours, so determining the correct Terminal and pick-up area will help avoid wasting time finding each other.
