Post Vocational Education Work Stream – Subclass 485

For international students recently graduated with a qualification related to occupations in shortage in Australia.

This visa allows you to live, study, and work temporarily in Australia.

With this visa, you can:

– Work in Australia
– Bring your family
– Must hold a qualification relevant to an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List
– This visa only applies to those meeting the study requirement of the Temporary Graduate visa with qualifications such as Associate Degree, Trade Certificate, or Vocational Training

Length of stay:

– Up to 18 months
– For Hong Kong or British National Overseas passport holders, up to 5 years

Visa Cost:

– From AUD 2,235

Processing time:

– 50% of applications: 83 days
– 90% of applications: 7 months

Eligibility requirements:

– Under 50 years of age
– Hold a qualification related to an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List
– Must be assessed as having the appropriate skills for the nominated occupation

Post-Higher Education Work Visa

Post Higher Education Work Stream – Subclass 485

This visa is for international graduates who have recently completed a higher education qualification from an Australian institution.

This visa allows you to live, work, and study temporarily in Australia.

With this visa, you can:

– Find your own employment, jobs are not pre-arranged

– Stay in Australia from 2 to 3 years after completing your studies

– Travel, work or study in Australia while your visa is valid

Length of stay:

Based on the level of qualification achieved in Australia:

– Bachelor (including Honours) – 2 years

– Master’s (coursework or extended) – 2 years

– Master’s (research) – 3 years

– Doctoral degree (PhD) – 3 years

Graduate Diplomas generally grant a 2-year stay, but may vary based on your specific course duration.

For Indian citizens, under the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA):

• Bachelor (including Honours) – 2 years
• Bachelor (First-class Honours in STEM including IT) – 3 years
• Master’s (all types) – 3 years
• Doctoral degree – 4 years

Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders may stay for up to 5 years.

Visa is valid from the date of grant
You can travel in and out of Australia as long as your visa is valid

Cost:

– From AUD 2,235 for the primary applicant

Processing time:

– 75% of applications processed in 12 days

– 90% of applications processed in 4 months

Eligibility requirements:

– Under 35 years of age at the time of application (exceptions apply)

– Must be in Australia when applying

– Must hold an eligible visa

– Must have held a student visa in the past 6 months

– Must hold a recent qualification from a CRICOS-registered course

– Must provide evidence of adequate health insurance for all applicants

– Must provide proof of application for Australian Federal Police (AFP) check

– Must submit proof of English language proficiency with your application
