Received Offer Letter from a university at Australia is certainly a very welcome step. However, right after receiving the Offer, many of you wonder: “How many days do I have to Accept the Offer? If I don’t close right away will I lose my place?” The answer is: there is no general deadline that applies to all Australian schools. Acceptance deadline Offer depends onthe school, course, admission period and your Offer Letter itself.

1. What is an Offer Letter?
Offer Letter is a letter informing you that the school has agreed to accept you into the study program with specific conditions.
Offer can be:
- Unconditional Offer: You have fully met the admission conditions.
- Conditional Offer: You still need to complete one or more conditions before being granted Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
In the Offer Letter there is often very important information such as:
- Course name
- Course start date
- Tuition
- Conditions to be fulfilled
- Acceptance Offer deadline
- Amount to be paid
- Payment instructions and admission confirmation
Therefore, don’t just look at the opening date to calculate Accept time Offer. Please check directly the deadline stated in the Offer letter.
2. How many days do you have to Accept Offer?
It is impossible to say that all Australian schools give students 7 days, 14 days or 30 days to Accept Offer. Each school may set different deadlines. For example, an Offer Letter might say: Offer Acceptance Deadline: September 30, 2026
In this case, you need to complete the steps required by the school before the above deadline. Some schools or programs may also require students topay a sum of money or tuition before the school confirms the Accept Offer.
So, the simplest principle:
Offer Letter → check Acceptance Deadline → complete conditions → Accept → pay according to instructions → receive CoE if eligible.
3. Will I definitely lose my place after the deadline?
You should not assume that exceeding the deadline means you will definitely lose your place, but you should also not be subjective. When the Offer expires, the field can:
- Allows you to request an extension.
- Reissue a new Offer.
- Request to update information.
- Change in conditions or tuition.
- There is no more room in that intake and move on to the next intake.
This is especially notable for courses that have a limited number of places or are in high demand. If you cannot Accept on time, the safest way is to contact the school or counseling unit as soon as possible to ask about the possibility of an extension.
4. Does Accepting Offer mean paying full tuition?
Not necessarily. Depending on the school and program, after Accepting Offer you may be asked to:
- Pay a deposit.
- Partial payment of tuition fees.
- Pay tuition according to school requirements.
- Complete the missing conditions.
After the school confirms that you have met the requirements and paid according to regulations, the school will proceed with the next steps to issue Confirmation of Enrolment – CoE. CoE is a very important document for the Student Visa 500 application.
5. Should I accept the offer quickly?
You should not just accept because you are afraid of “losing your place” without carefully reading the Offer. Before confirming, you should check at least:
① Is it the right industry?
Do the course names, majors and campus match the original choice?
② Is the intake correct?
Check the course start date and duration.
③ How much is the tuition?
See tuition fees calculated by year, semester or credit and other fees, if any.
④ What are the conditions of the offer?
If it is a Conditional Offer, you need to know exactly what you have to add.
⑤ Deadline Accept Offer
This is information that should not be missed.
6. What if I’m waiting for another school?
This is a fairly common situation. You have received Offer from school A but are still waiting for results from school B. In this case, Offer A should not be automatically ignored. You can check the deadline of Offer A and contact the school to ask:
Can the Accept Offer period be extended? If the school grants an extension, you’ll have more time to consider your options. It is important to not let the Offer expire without contacting the school.
7. How are the Offer Letter and CoE different?
These are two concepts that many people easily confuse.
| Offer Letter | CoE |
|---|---|
| Admission letter | Confirmation of enrollment |
| Issued after the school reviews the application | Usually issued after completing the school’s requirements |
| Can be Conditional or Unconditional | Used for course registration and Student Visa application |
| Accept deadline | Has course information and registration time |
Can be understood simply: Offer → Accept → complete conditions/payment → CoE → prepare Student application Visa 500. However, specific procedures may vary from school to school.
8. Don’t let the Offer expire before processing it
If you have just received an Offer from an Australian school, check these 5 pieces of information immediately:
✓ Acceptance Deadline
✓ Conditions of Offer
✓ Deposit/Tuition to be paid
✓ Intake & course start date
✓ Conditions for the school to issue CoE
If you are not sure whether you should Accept or not, don’t guess the deadline or wait until close to the date. Please check the Offer Letter or contact the school directly. Receiving an Offer does not mean you have a fixed time period to Accept. The deadline depends on each school and each Offer Letter. In particular, if you are preparing to study abroad in Australia and apply for Student Visa 500, processing the Offer on time will help avoid unnecessary situations such as having to reapply for the Offer, transferring intake or losing the opportunity at the desired course.
